Chip Jett

Charles "Chip" Jett is a professional poker player from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Born in 1974 in Scottsdale, Arizona, Jett has been known as "Chip" ever since he left the hospital after he was born. The nickname was suggested by a nurse to Jett's parents.

He worked as a lifeguard until he found out he could make money dealing poker. He worked in an Arizona Indian casino for three years but spent more time playing poker than dealing. By age 21, he was playing poker full-time and began to tour the country with the tournament circuit.

Chip was successful right away. He reached his first major final table at the 2000 California State Poker Championship (the one Ben Affleck won in 2004). March 2003, Jett finished 2nd to Howard Lederer in the WPT PartyPoker.com Million II cruise event, earning $175,900 (his biggest payday up to that point). Later that year he made 2 WSOP final tables for small payouts, and another WPT final table in the Legends of Poker event won by Mel Judah, earning $100,425.

After missing another TV table by two spots, he then finished in 8th place at the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $174,585.

He has 8 WSOP cashes for a total of $197,905. His best WSOP finish was a 3rd place finish in the 2005 $5,000 Seven Stud Event for $99,265. He has a total of 9 WPT cashes for a total of $657,661.

Although he hasn't had a huge win yet, he has had many impressive finishes and has established himself as a solid player. As of 2008, his total live tournament winnings exceed $2,000,000.

Eventually, Chip met Karina, another poker pro, and they married. Today, they are one of the most famous poker couples and live in Vegas with their children. Along with raising their children together, they also write articles for CardPlayer and play poker together. In August 2005 they even made the same final table.

cash games are BULLSHIT. I mean think about it, u get the 10 supposively "best" cash players in the world and put them at one table - 1-2 will go bust while another 1-2 will clean up big-time. Why? Because of the luck of cards they get. Oh but there is skill involved bluffing ppl out with better cards etc? Sometimes, but they arent very big pots usually. its like trying to tell one of the tallest guys in the world over the phone "hey man, i bet $500 im taller than u" and the guy would think "yeah right, fat chance. make it $1,000 thats all my money" and the guy would be caught out.

i think he used to sell cars actually i hear he is a great poker theorist, this from people who know what they are talking about. but i've played him a few times and i'm not sure if he's 'great' he's mega aggresive and unafraid to gamble, if he gets on tilt he plays real unsound
