Born in 1956 in Cyprus, Peter Costa is a British professional poker player currently residing in Las Vegas. He is best known as the winner the 6th series of the popular Late Night Poker television series, earning the £60,000 first prize. He was formerly nicknamed "The Silver Fox", a nickname shared by fellow poker player Mel Judah.
He has consistently cashed in many of the larger tournaments in both the U.S. and Europe. He has 11 WSOP cashes, 4 WSOP final tables, and total WSOP earnings of $180,708. His highest payout was for a 7th place finish in the 2005 $1,500 Limit Hold'em Event where he won $57,905.
Costa was nominated for both the 2002 and 2003 European Poker Player of the Year awards. In addition, Costa won the Aussie Millions tournament in 2003 and has 6 cashes in WPT events, with his best being a 13th place finish for $80,500 during season 4. His niece, Maria Demetriou, also has numerous poker results to her credit. As of 2008, his total live tournament winnings exceed $1,700,000.
