About RGP

Rec.gambling.poker (RGP) was a newsgroup that was one of the most popular online poker communities. In the early days, back in the 1990s, many of the popular poker players and authors posted, including Mike Sexton, Daniel Negreanu, Howard Lederer, Greg Raymer, David Sklansky, Mike Caro, Lou Kriger, Lee Jones, Gary Carson, and others. The newsgroup popularity declined as spam increased and web-based poker communities flourished.

This section is made up of threads that I hand-picked from the RGP newsgroup which may be helpful to players who are looking to read useful material to improve their game. I've always found internet forums to be an interesting place to learn poker strategy because the back-and-forth nature of the discussions allows you to appreciate different people's opposing opinions, as opposed to poker books and tutorials, which offer advice that comes from only one perspective. And the evolution of the analysis within the discussion thread also closely resembles the evolution of a player's analysis of a hand.
