"RaiNKhaN" is the screen name for the online poker player Hevad Khan, who is known for playing an incredible number of tables online. He is a member of Team PokerStars.
Born in 1985 in Poughkeepsie, New York, Khan's nickname "RaiNKhaN" comes from the Mortal Kombat character "Rain," who serves as an assassin for Shao Kahn. Khan was a competitive video game player who wanted to translate his talents into the poker field so he dropped out of SUNY Albany in order to concentrate on playing poker professionally. He moved to California to prepare for the World Series and lived on a couch for two months, slaved in front of it every single day to prepare for the World Series.
He initially became famous because of his ability to play many online tournaments at once. Khan would play so many tables that an opponent accused him of cheating by using bots. He was kicked off of one poker site, but was allowed to return after he sent a video of himself playing 26 tables at once (the video is on YouTube).
At the 2007 WSOP Khan finished in in 6th place in the main event, earning $956,243, and also cashed in 2 other WSOP events that year. A new rule was in effect for the 2008 WSOP known as the "Hevad Khan Rule". The rule was created to deter "over-celebrating" and was as a response to Hevad's over-the-top reactions during the 2007 World Series whenever he won a hand.
On March 23, 2008, Khan won the PokerStars $215 Sunday weekly tournament, where he outlasted a field of 2,504 players in more than 9 hours of play earning $97,856.
At the 2008 Foxwoods Poker Classic, Khan won the $1,850 No Limit Hold'em event, earning $108,187. Then, at the 2008 Caesars Palace Classic, Khan won the $10,000 No Limit Hold'em Championship event, earning the $1,000,000 first place prize, his largest win to date.
As of 2008, he has 7 WSOP cashes, 3 WPT cashes and total live tournament winnings exceeding $2,200,000. His goal is to make enough money so that he can become independent and never has to work again.
