"Ziigmund" is the screen name for Ilari Sahamies, a Finnish professional poker player who specializes in high-stakes pot-limit Omaha cash games. He is one of the most aggressive and successful online poker players and is a regular at Full Tilt Poker. He is known for tilting really bad and for playing while drunk.
Born in 1983 in Helsinki, Finland, Sahamies first played poker around age of 15, in a friendly game at the home of fellow Finnish poker pro Patrik Antonius. They first met at a local billiard hall, where Sahamies hung out at while on his way to earning two Finnish junior championships for billiards.
Sahamies began playing at the Casino Helsinki in 2001 before going pro a couple of years later. When he started playing online, he started playing low limits but always strived to be a high-limit player. When he broke into the high stakes games, Sahamies gained a large following which was helped in part by his notorious trash talking at the table, which often caused his opponents to go on tilt. He has said that he is good friends with everyone that he talks trash to at the table and it is only for fun. He has also been known to play online poker while drunk - a habit which has allegedly cost him a lot of money - but he says that he doesn't do that anymore.
Although Sahamies makes most of his money playing online, he does sometimes play live poker with moderately successful results. He has played on High Stakes Poker and Poker After Dark and has won over $300,000 in live tournament winnings.
