Ross Boatman is an English actor, professional poker player, and a member of The Hendon Mob.
Born in 1964 in London, Boatman began working as a television actor in 1988 and is best known for his role in the long-running TV series London's Burning. Boatman has also appeared in many movies and turned down a role in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels out of a fear of being typecast. Boatman has said that he prefers acting to poker, but says it is easier to make money in poker.
Together with his brother, Barny (who taught him how to play poker), Ross Boatman started attending a poker game in North London run by Joe Beevers and Ram Vaswani. The four quickly became friends, and began travelling together to play in poker tournaments throughout Europe. The four of them attracted a lot of attention and were named "The Hendon Mob". The group was invited to appear in the new TV series, Late Night Poker and appeared in all 6 series of the show.
Ross and the Hendon Mob toured the tournament circuit while being sponsored by Prima Poker and have also made many appearances at the WSOP. He made his 1st final table in 2002 in the Pot-Limit Omaha event where he and Barny became the first brothers to make the same WSOP final table. That same year he cashed in the main event, finishing in 34th place out of 631 players. Boatman also made the final table in a 2006 European Poker Tour (EPT) event, where finishing in 6th place for €140,000 ($168,628).
He has 13 WSOP Cashes for a total of $299,177. His best finishes were a 4th place finish in the 2009 WSOP Europe £5,000 Pot Limit Omaha Event for £69,030 and a 4th place finish in the 2009 $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Event for $66,936.
As of 2009, he has 4 WPT cashes for a total of $297,172 and total live tournament winnings that exceed $1,400,000. He is now sponsored by Full Tilt Poker.
